What is Sono Lumo?

Held for the first time at the newly opened Queen’s Wharf Brisbane– Sono Lumo is a chance for you to immerse yourself in a spectacle of light and sound this holiday season!

Sono Lumo blends Christmas traditions with cutting-edge technology to create a vibrant new celebration.

Over ten nights, this experience will feature the finest electronically infused music, dynamic lighting installations, curated bars and seasonally inspired cuisine.

This bold and original holiday celebration will be unlike anything Brisbane has experienced before!

 

When will Sono Lumo take place?

Sono Lumo will be held at Queen’s Wharf Brisbane from 4 December to 15 December 2024.

Running from 5.00pm – 11.00pm daily – the event will be held each Wednesday – Sunday during this period.

Where will Sono Lumo be?

Sono Lumo will be held in Queen’s Wharf Brisbane in the newly opened spaces along the Riverfront of Queen’s Wharf Plaza and The Landing. The nightly hero show “Carols Rewired” on at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm can be enjoyed over from other surrounding areas including South Bank!

 

Is Sono Lumo a free event?

Sono Lumo is a free event, with food and beverages available to purchase on site.  

 

Do you have live performances?  

There will be live DJ’s and roaming performances across the 10 Night event program. Please keep an eye on the website for more program details.

 

When will the projections and lighting works start and end?  

Sono Lumo  runs from 5.00pm to 11.00pm, the projections and lighting works are best viewed when darkness falls (from around 7.00pm). Carols Rewired is a special 8 min performance will be seen at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm

I have accessibility needs, how do I get to Sono Lumo?

At The Star Brisbane there are fully serviced elevators to access each level and outlet, accessible movements routes, and help available if assistance is required. The Star Brisbane and Queen’s Wharf Brisbane has been designed for people of all abilities.

 

Is there seating available?

Some temporary seating and rest areas are available within the Sono Lumo precinct as well as existing public seating.

 

What kind of facilities will be available on the night?

Signs indicating key areas including toilets, seating and food areas will be present on the night.

What food and beverage will be available?

There will be several food and beverage offerings on site on each of the event nights, with contributors form the fabulous new restaurants of The Star Brisbane including Babblers, Fat Noodle, Food Quarter and Cucina Regina. 

 

How do I pay for food & beverages on site?

Sono Lumo will be a cash less site / card only site.

Are there any road closures I should be aware of?

There will be no road closures as a part of this event, however there will be changes to the Cycle path so please keep an eye out for further details to be announced soon.

 

How can I arrive and leave the city centre by foot, car, bus, train or ferry?

Is the entire event walkable?

Yes. Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is a pedestrian space. The event site is wheelchair accessible. Access includes, Queen’s Wharf Road, Lift at Miller Park along William Street and if coming across Neville Bonner Bridge lift access from Level 4, The Terrace will take you down to level 0 and towards the riverfront. For wheelchair accessible and accessibility needs go to the Star Brisbane website  

 

Where are public toilet facilities available?

Public toilets are available on site and around Queen’s Wharf Plaza – look for the signage in the area.  

 

Will there be any water stations?

Sono Lumo will be as hot as the Brissy evenings can be!

There will be water bubblers and hydration stations throughout the Sono Lumo site, so bring your own bottle to fill up or come prepared with a bottle of water. Water as well as drinks will be available for purchase at the Sono Lumo food and beverage bars.

 

Is there a chance that Sono Lumo would be postponed due to bad weather?

Come rain, hail or shine the Sono Lumo Carols Rewired show will be happening – come prepared! Depending on severity of weather – any postponements, cancellations or delays of elements to the site and other elements will be communicated through The Star Brisbane website.
